In 1967, the Library Association of the University of California was determining who should be a “professional” librarian (as usual – do librarians talk about anything else?).
After the normal racist sexist elitist crap:

some wild stuff comes up:

from “Professional Librarianship Within the Academic Community” LAUC Carton 1, Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley.
a Roschah Inkblot?
the California Psychological Inventory?
a SZONDI test?
The test consists in showing the examinee a series of facial photographs (of imprisoned patients with mental disorders), displayed in six groups of eight each. The subject is asked to choose the two most appealing and the two most repulsive photos of each group. The choices will supposedly reveal the subject satisfied and unsatisfied instinctive drive needs, and the subject’s dimensions of personality.
If your ego drive is too high, perhaps you do not deserve tenure.
- this wasn’t that long ago
- maybe we should look into the legacy of our professional associations before we oblige ourselves to them
